ISTCL Launches ARMA Portal

Thursday, March 16, 2006

In the ever evolving Internet space, many companies have moved to using portal technologies. With the capability and functionality surpassing old client-server systems and processes through online activities, organizations such as Non-Profits, Charitable Organizations and Associations are seeing the value of investing in this technology to reach and interact with staff and membership respectively.

ISTCL has recently partnered with ARMA Vancouver to launch a new web portal found at www.armavancouver.org.

This portal incorporates 3 primary target audiences; an improved publicly accessible web site, a secure collaboration area for paid members and a finally a collaborative area for elected and appointed board members.

ARMA Vancouver is a chapter or ARMA International, an association of Records and Information Managers. ARMA Vancouver serves mainland BC and the Yukon. ISTCL President Robert Preston notes, “With ARMA Vancouver’s membership geographically scattered, this new portal allows for the added value discussion, collaboration and interaction, engaging all members from downtown Vancouver to remote towns in the north”.

Developed by ISTCL at no cost to the ARMA Vancouver chapter, ISTCL hosts the new portal at an affordable subscription fee, tied to the Membership dues. In the event the organizations total membership changes, they will only pay per use. Sandie Bradley, President, ARMA Vancouver Chapter, in discussing the value to chapter members highlighted the key reasons to adopt this technology offering from ISTCL, “Our chapter encompasses members from all over British Columbia and the Yukon, and this vast geography is a barrier to members’ ability to participate fully in the benefits of belonging. Attendance at meetings is often limited to those members within driving distance of Vancouver. With all modesty, the ARMA Vancouver Board believes that we are leading the rest of the chapters with this development!” “ISTCL is please to assist the Charitable and not-for-profit sector”, says Robert Preston. “With our donation of portals to ARMA Vancouver and Homes First Society we see that the need and ability for these organizations to adopt current relevant technology has finally converged”.
