ISTCL showcases new association portal at the ARMA Canada Conference 2006

The ARMA Canada Conference 2006, New Challenges, New Dimensions, was held in downtown Toronto, at the Delta Chelsea Hotel, from Sunday, May 28th to Wednesday, May 31st, 2006. ISTCL participated in the event, showcasing our collaborative workspace technology by demonstrating the ARMA Vancouver portal developed in partnership with the Vancouver chapter of ARMA Canada.

The ARMA Canada conference included a wide selection of educational offerings for participants. While the focus of much of the conference was strictly on traditional records and information management, ISTCL provided a new view on the world of managing information in today’s ever evolving Internet space. ISTCL provided lectures and demonstrations of the ARMA Vancouver web portal offering conference participants the option to “Travel for fun, not work!”

Through the use of collaborative workspace technology, participants were encouraged to approach information management from a new perspective - information available from anywhere in the world via the internet. Other highlights of the ARMA Vancouver site include the ability to share documents, participate in discussions, post and view the latest meeting minutes and announcements all of which are accessible from the internet through a secure log in function for chapter members. Response was enthusiastic as participants realized the possibilities of this technology.

The ARMA Vancouver web portal attaches to the organizations public website at www.armavancouver.org. Developed by ISTCL at no cost to the ARMA Vancouver chapter, ISTCL hosts the new portal at an affordable subscription fee, tied to the Membership dues. The ARMA Vancouver is a chapter or ARMA International, an association of Records and Information Managers. ARMA Vancouver serves mainland BC and the Yukon.

Last but not least, another ISTCL hit at the conference was the opening night raffle which included a digital camera from ISTCL. Another great way to “capture, store and share” information!

"ISTCL's model for subscription based services is a boon to the volunteer and not-for-profit sector", says Robert Preston, ISTCL President.
